We generally distinguish high-end Epoxy resin skimboards from entry-level Wooden skimboards . Epoxy skimboards are intended for more intense use and by intermediate and experienced riders. Epoxy Skimboards are larger, more rigid, and allow you to gain maximum speed and thus surf the shorebreak thanks to their superior lift. They have good grip in hollow waves.
Wooden skimboards are generally intended for more occasional use and/or beginner riders . Wooden boards are more affordable but have a shorter lifespan and do not allow you to surf the shorebreak easily because they wear less and slide less well. They are ideal for learning to skimboard and sliding on the very smooth and flat water surface at the edge of the beach.
You must adapt the size of your skimboard to your practice and your size.
For Wooden Skimboards , we generally offer boards between 30 and 40 or 41 inches. These boards are intended for young people (except the 41 inch size intended for adults). The smallest and very young will take a 30, 35 or 36 inch board, medium-sized children or teenagers and adults will take a board between 37 and 41 inch.
Skimboard in 42.5 inch - Ideal for the lightest and smallest sizes, between 1.30m and 1.50m (approximately 40-50Kgs)
Skimboard in 44.5 inch - Ideal for light and small people, between 1.50m and 1.70m (approximately 50-60kgs)
Skimboard in 51 inch - Ideal for average sizes, between 1.70m and 1.80m (approximately 60-75kgs)
Skimboard in 53.5 inch - Ideal for large sizes, between 1.75m and 1.90m (approximately 70-85kgs)
Skimboard in 55 inch - Ideal for larger sizes, between 1.80m and 2.0m+ (approximately 80kgs and more)
NB: a large board will allow you to slide and surf easily but will offer less control in hollow waves. A smaller board will offer more control but have less lift.
