Bodyboards, know and understand everything in 2 minutes
At Woodstockshop.com we offer a complete range of bodyboards and bodyboard accessories allowing everyone to surf with a board adapted to the waves encountered and their level .
There are mainly 3 types of cores for bodyboards:
- EPS (Extruded Polystyrene) Cores used on entry-level models : Light, inexpensive, suitable for beginners (children, teenagers, adults), EPS boards are often the first boards purchased for beginners or are intended for occasional practice . Find all our EPS models here .
- PE (Polyethylene) Cores are generally used for mid-range bodyboards, the PE Core is resistant and durable but quite flexible, which makes it a manageable and flexible Core, allowing you to have control in the wave. This Core and the bodyboard models with a PE Core are aimed at intermediate levels in general or at children wishing to progress without spending too much on a high-end board at the moment. A PE core can be enhanced with a stringer or 2 reinforcing stringers (carbon or fiberglass tubes placed inside the core of the board) to stiffen the board and make it more resistant and durable. Large PE boards or boards intended for adults often have 1 or 2 reinforcing stringers.
- PP (Polypropylene) Cores are used on high-end bodyboards from many brands: This Core is durable, quite rigid, has superior properties in terms of flexion, resistance and recovery. There are 2 subcategories of PP core , high density PP core and low density PP core (NRG) , offering different levels of flex depending on the use made of it, depending on the temperature of the core. water and according to user preferences (depending on the waves, more or less hollow for example). NRG (Low Density Polypropylene) Cores are more flexible and offer comfort and control mainly in cold waters. Cores in classic PP (High density), sometimes called " Kinetic PP " by certain brands (High density polypropylene), are more rigid, faster, nervous, less flexible and have maximum "pop" and recovery in the wave. PP and NRG Cores (like PE Cores) are also very often equipped with a stringer or 2 reinforcing stringers (carbon or fiberglass tubes placed inside the core of the board) to stiffen the board and make it even more resistant and durable, making it possible to limit excessive bending during maneuvers or aerial landings in particular. PP boards (NRG or high density PP) are intended for more intense or very intense practice and at intermediate, advanced and professional levels; These are high-end boards with maximum performance . PP/NRG boards are often offered with varied options depending on user preferences: Contour deck (preformed deck for maximum grip), double or quadruple channels, concave, slick in high-end Surlyn™, Core in PP with reinforcements and mesh grid, hand grips etc.
